Competitions & Choreography
Choreography
Choreography is one of the most important parts of our competitive cheer season. During these sessions, athletes learn their competition routine, including motions, jumps, stunts, transitions, and formations.
Wakefield Youth Cheer is proud to provide professionally choreographed routines for our competition teams. Our athletes compete against strong programs that dedicate significant time and effort to preparing for competition, and we are committed to providing the same opportunities for our cheerleaders.
While we always want our athletes to have fun, we also strive to help them reach their full potential and represent Wakefield with pride.
Important Attendance Information
Choreography is mandatory.
Because routines, formations, and stunt groups are established during choreography, missing these sessions can make it extremely difficult for an athlete to safely and successfully learn the routine.
Athletes who miss choreography may:
- Be removed from portions of the competition routine
- Not be placed in stunt groups
- Be unable to participate in competition performances
These dates are essential to competition participation.

Competition Commitment
Families should be aware that teams may advance through multiple levels of competition, including the possibility of qualifying for the AYC National Championship in December.
If your family is unable to commit to the possibility of advancing through the full competition season, including Nationals, your athlete is welcome to participate as a game-day cheerleader only. However, athletes who are unable to commit to the competition season will not be included in the competition routine, stunt groups, or competition performances.
We understand that every family's schedule and circumstances are different. Our goal is to ensure that competition routines are built with athletes who are available to participate throughout the entire competition season should the team advance.
Competition Expectations
To ensure the best possible experience for all athletes, families should plan for:
- Attendance at all competitions for which the team qualifies
- Timely arrival at competition venues
- Full competition uniform and required accessories
- Positive sportsmanship and support for all teams
Competition schedules, arrival times, and venue information will be distributed as they become available throughout the season.
We are excited to provide our athletes with the opportunity to compete, grow, build confidence, and create lifelong memories while representing Wakefield Youth Cheer.
Go Warriors!
